Alpha Kappa Alpha is composed of college women from diverse backgrounds and from all over the world. The membership is open to individuals of African, Asian, Native American, Caucasian, Hispanic, as well as Indian descent. There are over 900 chapters of AKA 1908 in America and other countries worldwide, with approximately 250,000 total members. At the time of pledging, a pledge card shall be s igned by each candidate. These cards are to be kept on file by the chapter. If the person is not initiated, the- reason nyast be recorded on the back of the card.
