Trying defend an attack with a miner is a lost cause. Don't even bother trying it. If you REALLY want to mine ISO with a Meridian [which you should] you have to plan on watching it the whole time. The Meridian is NOT your typical set-it-and-forget-it miner. All ship classes are strong in one stat from each set, and this creates the battleship>explorer>interceptor>battleship dynamic.
