I replaced it because I had a constant overheating problem whenever idling, which in Houston traffic happens quite frequently. No problems at all when driving, just idling. Flushed out the whole system probably 4 or 5 times. Then replaced the thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, water pump, all hoses and fan clutch. Still it would overheat.
