Ok gotcha. I've never had one not fit so I did some measuring out of curiosity. 1.25" seems to be the number. Every sling I own including the 2" wide padded ones are all 1.25" on the ends where they feed through the stock. Slots on my stocks are also 1.25" except for one BCM outlier with a 1.5" slot.

Harris makes an adapter that allows a sling swivel stud to be mounted to/through one of the ventilation holes on a GI-style AR handguard, but Ruger has made so many little "tweaks" to their AR (re)design, I'm not positive that the adapter will work on the Ruger handguard.
