Here's what I ended up doing to fix it: Go to "app info" for voicemail app. Under Usage, click Storage. Clear data. Reopen app. When I reopened to the app, it led me through the initial setup of the Spectrum visual voicemail service. All of the voicemails that I had from when I had Verizon service were still there.
