Geometry arrangements and skin deformation weighting vary so much in the entire breadth of both body mod formats. But the UVW maps... that's what ties them all together. That's what makes a body mesh "UNP" or "CBBE".

I've been using UNP for awhile now, mainly because it's way more realistic proportions than CBBE was by default. Plus the armors are updated way faster and there seems to be a lot more armor to choose from in general for UNP. But I used to use CBBE and I recall the body slider working perfectly with armor. Installing is a little bit complicated, since the last one installed/loaded is the one that will be dominant for the player. For instance, since my player is CBBE-3BBB, I needed to install BHUNP first, then CBBE-3BBB. As for switching the player, it's possible that what you're suggesting might work.
