Superb survivors.
You will find other Survivors to join you. They'll always be subpar compared to multiplayer, but they can still add a lot to the game. This is an extension of nolanritchie's Superb Survivors. I've optimized it to reduce the performance impact, and added some balance changes and fixes to the AI routines to behave better.

Build 40 was "Super Survivors!" Mod. Then with build 41 the Animations build we made "Superb Survivors" . After running several tests with the mod on and off, I can guarantee it's superb survivors causing the stuttering. In addition, no graphical setting seems to be affecting this whatsoever, even running it in a 800x600 >window< won't stop the stuttering. I am not, in any way, undermining the mod or disrespecting the talent of the developers.

Turn off raiders because they are on a mission and your folks are kinda brain dead. Take too many out with you they will die. Traveling with one or two, if they are brave ones, are good for killing one or two zombies at a time. So those things you will see people complain about.

I currently use Superb Survivors & it works well enough for me. In my playthroughs, I try to save a group of them & have them wander around my base performing basic tasks, like putting all the corpses in a pile. They can be a bit buggy though. If left off screen for a while, a npc can decimate a large amount of zombies.

So as you wander around you'll find more, but if you kill them or recruit them to your team more won't show up to replace them. 2.in the options, you can find the superb survivors tab. you want to set the spawn rate to very low. follow the second step in this tutorial. for me i have 16gb ram, so I allocated 12000something something and it seems to help with performance. please feel free to share some performance and general tips so I can expand this further.If you have survivors farm and stockpile food, then I think they will take the food from the stockpile. ...
