OP: There has been a problem recently with the onstar units in the new GM vehicles. My bosses 2015 3500 sierra had the same problem. If the auto dim feature still works then it's not a wiring issue, so unless the display got shut off it's an internal mirror problem. These mirrors are not serviceable as far as I know. The good news is, if your mirror is shot, you should be able to find a nice replacement on ebay for, maybe $30-50 dollars.
